San Diego Gang Assists Military Personnel with PTSD
ACVOW is a charitable service that recruits combat veteran volunteers to mentor, coach and assist our warriors in the transition from combat, helping them and their loved ones to lead productive and satisfying lives. As many of our service members get back from battle, they are often met with fresh mental health difficulties in the form of combat stress. Without addressing their combat stress, veterans often find it difficult to adjust to a peaceful society, having an effect on their education as well as jobs. When treating PTSD , unlike a great many mental health care professionals, ACVOW likes to leave out the “D”, which signifies the word disorder. They believe combat stress is not a disorder, but a normal reaction to an exceedingly abnormal event.ACVOW was originally created at the begining of 2001 to support Vietnam veterans who were still enduring post traumatic stress, or combat stress. Its trademark quality is its combat veteran volunteers who’ve the unique familiarity with understanding what our warriors experienced. Right now, many ACVOW volunteers are making an effort to guide and assist warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
